Something About Us
I am married to Liz and we have a family of four.
Sharon has a teaching position at Dulwich Hamlet Junior School in London, England. She has been living in London for over 20 years but manages to get back to New Zealand at reasonably regular intervals. Sharon and her partner, Dan Mullings, own a house in the suburb of Penge, South London.
Gerard is an eBusiness Analyst at Toll in Melbourne, Australia. Gerard and his wife, Nicole, are proud parents of our first two grandchildren - Joshua, born in July 2007 and Ari, born in July 2009.
Bede completed his studies and graduated in April 2005 with a Bachelor in Recreation Management degree from Lincoln University. Bede married Sharon Andrews in February 2016. They are now living in Clifton Beach, Cairns, Queensland, Australia where he is the Club Manager at Barron Valley Gymnastics. Prior to that he was Gymsport Manager at the Christchurch School of Gymnastics and then Assistant Club Manager at Delta Brisbane Gymnastics. Bede and Sharon provided us with our first grand-daughter, Lydia, in December 2016 and another grandson, Harrison, in April 2019.
After spending a year doing a commerce degree, Tim decided to put aside his studies for a while and qualified as a butcher. In 2009 he completed a Bachelor of Business Innovation and Enterprise degree and is currently a Retail Purchasing Manager at Foodstuffs South Island, Christchurch. Tim married Amanda Dawson in April 2014.

Liz retired in 2014 from her full time teaching position at Linwood North School where she taught 8-10 year old children, as well as having a management component to her job.
At the end of 2003 I retired from the Christchurch Service Centre of the National Library of New Zealand where I was the Manager of the Curriculum Information Service. This service provides resources for teachers in schools throughout the South Island to assist them with their classroom programmes. I am leading a very active retired life being involved with many projects including acting as a voluntary computer tutor at the Burwood Hospital based Allan Bean Centre where I assist those with spinal and brain injuries in developing computer skills.
Where We Live We live in Christchurch which is the principal city in the province of Canterbury, New Zealand. Christchurch is situated on the east coast of the South Island According to the most recent population estimates taken in 2017, the city's metro area has a population of 396,700 while the city itself has a population of 381,500. Christchurch, which is known as the "Garden City", has beautiful parks and beaches and is just over an hour away from ski-fields. Sadly, Christchurch was very badly affected by a series of earthquakes in 2010 and 2011. Further information on the effects of the earthquakes can be found on my Christchurch page. |

Our Interests
Liz and I enjoy spending time with our family in New Zealand and overseas, our grandchildren in Melbourne and Cairns, New Zealand's fine wines, traveling around New Zealand and overseas and relaxing in the thermal pools at Hanmer Springs. (Follow the link to see some of my photographs of this beautiful place).
I invite you to take some time to look at my pages on New Zealand wines and wineries. Through these pages we were lucky enough to "meet" up with Vera and Ray Randall who had a boutique winery in Washington State. Together we had in June 2000 what we believe was the first ever "Transglobal on-line wine tasting" sharing opinions on two New Zealand wines. The first was so successful that we held a Second transglobal tasting, this time enjoying wines sent from America, including a chardonnay produced by the Randalls. One of the highlights of our trip to America in 2004 was that we were able to really meet the Randalls and stay with them for several days in their home.
We are all keen supporters of New Zealand's national games Rugby and Cricket. Look here if you would like to know more about the rules and objectives of cricket.
Liz and I spent most of 2004 overseas. Liz took a year's leave of absence from her position at Linwood North School and had a teaching position until the end of October at Craven Park School in Stamford Hill, London. She taught 10-11 year old children. During weekends and school holidays we explored different parts of the United Kingdom and Europe. Once her teaching contract concluded we spent time in America and Hong Kong before returning to New Zealand.
2001 was a great year for the Campbell household as not only did Sharon graduate with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning degree but so also did Liz. Sharon's course was a three year full time one whereas Liz had to fit her studies in and around her family life and a full time career. We are all very proud of them. Photographs of this event can be found here as well as photographs of Bede's graduation in 2005 and Tim's graduation in 2010.
